Our Company creates immersive site-specific dances, interdisciplinary performance installations, and dance films that explore the space between media and the relationship between body and environment. Working mainly in sites that are overlooked, forgotten, or abandoned, our projects inspire an imaginative and sustainable way of looking at, thinking about, and using space. Philadelphia Weekly describes our site-specific work as “poignant,” “stunning,” and “arresting.”
"Tori Lawrence is quickly becoming known in Philly's dance scene for her site-specific installations that explore connections between architecture and choreography."
"Tori Lawrence's choreography, replete with fine articulations and carefully placed tableaux, often resembles a slow-moving sculpture as much as a dance."
LISA KRAUS, THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER
"Tori Lawrence + Co. creates holistic aesthetic experiences, amalgamating many subtle moments into a complete whole that carefully considers all aspects of performance."

WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2010, Tori Lawrence + Co. is a group of movement artists, musicians, filmmakers, and designers who embed innovative art into unconventional settings. Our performances examine how we are active participants in the construction of our intimate and global spatialities – guiding audiences into more active ways of perceiving and being present as they venture through space.
TL+ Co. has been presented nationally and internationally, including three site-specific project commissions by The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. We have been awarded prestigious artist residencies and fellowships at Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder (Norway, 2021), Brunakra (Sweden, 2019), Yaddo (2018), Playa (2018), Chez Bushwick (2018), Brunakra/Sweden (2018, 2019), Djerassi Resident Artists Program (2017), Charlotte Street Foundation (2016-17), Dance Ireland (2014), and Budapest's Workshop Foundation (2013). We were artists in residence at Middlebury College (2019-2020) and guest artists at Franklin & Marshall College (Fall 2018). Our dance films have been funded by New England Foundation for the Arts, Lighton International Artists Exchange Program, Dance Films Association, and Vermont Arts Council. Our work has been presented by Philadelphia Dance Projects, Movement Research at the Judson Church, School for Contemporary Dance & Thought (Northampton, MA), Stockholm Screendance Festival, Screendance Africa, Agite y Sirva Screendance Touring Festival (Mexico City), Portland Maine Film Festival, Legion Arts/CSPS, and Cyprus International Film Festival, amongst others.
I examine the inherent spatiality of human life and how we are active participants in the construction of our intimate and global relationships in space. I produce provocative multidisciplinary work that heightens an awareness of how we see, translate, bridge, and compose the inner and outer landscapes of our own being. I want to guide the audience toward an understanding that from spaces, we create, discover, and install places.
