FAULTLINE
VIDEODANCE // 13 MINUTES // 2026

"Faultline" is a new digital dance film by Tori Lawrence + Co. Set in the expansive and iconic Mojave Desert, the film brings awareness to the interplay between the natural environment, designed body, and the human need to adapt to a changing environment. Filmed and choreographed by Tori Lawrence, with a costume created by visual artists Mark King & Bregje Cox, worn by dancer and collaborating artist Anthony Pucci, the film navigates interstitial spaces between the sculptural Joshua Trees and geologic features in the Mojave desert. At first, the film seems to follow an overly designed contemporary body, made for urban spaces, as though placed out of context in nature, as if an invasive species. As the camera follows the dancer through the land, scaling cliffs and scrambling over boulders, they begin to fit themself into the land, bringing the viewer on a journey of adaptation of body to environment.
